Salaamun Alaikum
The Council of European Jamaats held its Executive Council meeting on the 09 December 2017 in Leicester.
The Council was honoured to welcome the President of The World Federation, Alhaj Anwarali Bhai Dharamsi, and the Vice Chairman of Africa Federation, Alhaj Aunali Bhai Khalfan.
Both addressed the Council and stressed the importance of ensuring unity and cohesion are maintained within the community in these challenging times amongst other key messages.
During the meeting, the agenda item titled ‘CoEJ’s Role regarding Alims’ was discussed.
After lengthy deliberation during which time all present were afforded an opportunity to give their views, the Council decided to work closely with The World Federation, who per their communiqué dated 08 November 2017, are studying this matter further. This work is being undertaken under the Islamic Education Department of The World Federation by Shaykh Dr. Murtadha Alidina.
The Council decided to share notes of its own discussions on the matter with Shaykh Dr. Murtadha Alidina in order to aid his work and this will be sent by COEJ secretariat shortly.
In addition, the following resolution was passed:
“The Council of European Jamaats hereby resolves that we endorse the statement released by the Secretariat of The World Federation dated 08 November 2017 related to the guidance for the community in response to the concerns raised by the community members worldwide.”
