We would like to share with all community members the letter CoEJ sent to Rt. Hon. Rishi Sunak on Thursday 28th December, 2023:
Dear Prime Minister,
We hope this letter finds you well. The Trustees of the Council of European Jamaats (CoEJ), an organisation deeply committed to humanitarian causes and promoting peace, is profoundly concerned and saddened by the horrific and tragic loss of tens of thousands of innocent lives, particularly among the most vulnerable – women and children. The distressing situation has affected numerous individuals, including healthcare professionals, UN workers and journalists who have sustained injuries and been killed (over 90) while bravely striving to aid the helpless and those in need.
The genocide and humanitarian crisis in Palestine has escalated to a point of deep distress. The situation has reached a critical point with the lack of basic necessities such as food, water, medicine and sanitation; CoEJ, driven by our unwavering faith, wishes to express its grave concern regarding these restrictions on aid and vital resources leading to further suffering, the forced displacement of the people of Palestine and death.
CoEJ urgently calls for a ceasefire and unhindered access to vital humanitarian aid. We believe that immediate action is essential to alleviate the suffering of the affected population; we trust and hope that these efforts will ultimately come to fruition soon. We appreciate your attention to this matter and urge you to use your influence to support initiatives to call for an immediate ceasefire which is vital for the facilitation of humanitarian aid.
Our organisation offers heartfelt prayers for the restoration of peace and dignity for the people of Palestine.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours sincerely,
The Trustees
