The inaugural Madrasah Leadership Conference united 43 passionate participants from 15 institutions across Europe, including madaris from the UK, France, and Sweden.

This vibrant gathering served as a dynamic platform for madrasah leadership teams to forge meaningful connections, exchange ideas, and collaborate on shared goals, fostering a stronger and more unified future for madrasah education across Europe.

The sessions delved into profound and thought-provoking themes, including that Islam offers an extraordinary depth and a holistic view of education and knowledge transmission, one that is often underappreciated in our societies.

Through vision-setting exercises and engaging breakout discussions, participants embraced a spirit of collaboration and strategic alignment, paving the way for a unified and impactful future across Madaris.

Hosted under the newly established European Madaris Department (EMD) – an initiative of the Islamic Board of CoEJ – the event reflected EMD’s mission to build a collaborative, confident and future-focused network of Madaris across Europe. EMD aims to work in partnership with Madaris leadership, teachers, and community stakeholders to understand local needs, share best practices, and uplift the standards of Islamic education across the region.

Key focus areas include

  • Understanding the current needs and challenges faced by Madaris
  • Streamlining feedback to enhance curriculum development
  • Supporting implementation and evaluation of pilot programmes
  • Coordinating teacher development and CPD initiatives
  • Strengthening relationships between regional Madaris and with CoEJ

Through meaningful engagement and collaboration, EMD aims to ensure that every child across our member Jamaats has access to high quality, values driven Madrasah experience.

Feedback from attendees was highly positive, with many calling for more opportunities to develop leadership capacity and build a strategically aligned Madrasah network.

CoEJ extends a heartfelt thanks to all participants, speakers, and volunteers for making this pioneering event a success. May Allah (swt) bless these efforts and enable our Madaris to continue nurturing generations rooted in the love of the Holy Qur’an and Ahlulbayt (a.s).
